That’s why, when comparing the G Pro X and Cloud Alpha S, every detail or minor difference matters to determine which headset is better for the price.

Both headphones come in attractive, protective packaging that does not allow the similar bundle of accessories to slide around. It will be interesting to see if one is of higher quality than the other.

The G Pro X set a high bar for packaging and accessories. I’m greeted with the G Pro X headset immediately, and as I continue unboxing, I discover a travel bag, optional cloth ear cushions, and all the labeled cords.

Unboxing the Cloud Alpha S gives me déjà vu. I pull open the lid to reveal the Cloud Alpha S headset, followed by the additional accessories underneath, including a travel bag, cloth ear cushions, and all the connective wiring.

Packaging and Accessories Verdict
Both headphones come with a travel bag and optional cloth ear cushions, indicating that not only the packaging but also the accessories are carefully considered.
I have nothing to differentiate the packaging and accessories for these headphones because they are nearly identical. In other words, it’s a tie, and these are unquestionably the best in this category of all the gaming headphones I’ve tried.
Design and Functionality
Logitech G Pro X
The G Pro X Limited League of Legends edition is a headset worth getting excited about. They sport a blue and secondary gold color scheme. The ear cups have a Logitech and League of Legends stamp on each outer shell, and the headband is embroidered with gold stitching.
Unfortunately, the G Pro X’s functionality isn’t quite as impressive as their design. The main connective cord comes with a mute and volume dial. And the mobile cord only has a mute button and no volume control. Aside from that, the wiring and ear cups have no other functionality.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
The Cloud Alpha S’s design isn’t flashy, but they’re certainly professional. They have a black and blue color scheme that is designed similarly to the G Pro X. The ear cups have a HyperX logo imprinted on the outer shell, and the headband has matching blue stitching.
The Cloud Alpha S truly impress me with their functionality. The USB Audio Control Mixer enables 7.1 surround sound for both PC and Console! With that, you can also adjust your in-game volume and your teammates’ noise level in your voice chat party, which is a feature I’ve never seen before.
Speaking of functionality features I’ve never seen before, the Cloud Alpha S have bass adjustment sliders on the back of each ear cup to reduce or increase the power of low-frequency sounds.

Design and Functionality Verdict
This is an interesting section because, while the G Pro X have a better design, the Cloud Alpha S easily outperform the G Pro X in terms of functionality. When it comes down to it, I’d rather have superior functionality than superior design, so, I have to give the Cloud Alpha S the win for this category.
Comfort
Logitech G Pro X
The G Pro X ear cups are extremely comfortable for me, but the headband is not. It can use some more padding, as I experience occasional aches that require adjustment to combat.
The ear cups, on the other hand, are fantastic. The cloth and leather are both plush and soft, and the ear cups have air vents in the back, so they never get too hot or humid.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
I have no complaints about the Cloud Alpha S comfort. They are one of the most comfortable headsets I’ve ever experienced.
Right away, I notice that the headband is much more cushioned than the G Pro X and I don’t get any aches while wearing them for long sessions. The cloth and leatherette ear cup cushioning is both comfortable, and the cups do not get noticeably humid.

Comfort Verdict
The G Pro X falls short in comfort in comparison to the Cloud Alpha S, entirely as a result of the insufficient headband padding. It gives me aches with long sessions, and although a quick fix combats it, it’s not an issue I have with the Cloud Alpha S.
As I’ve said in the past, and I’ll say it again, the Cloud Alpha S are the most comfortable gaming headphones I’ve ever tested.
Build Quality
Logitech G Pro X
You’re definitely getting your money’s worth with the G Pro X’s build quality. They barely include plastic as part of their build, except for a small portion of the ear cups. It’s far better than most headsets that primarily use plastic for construction.
The headband is flexible while still having proper resistance. Furthermore, the yolk that connects the headband to the ear cups is extremely strong. I can’t bend it, and I doubt I can break it or any part of the headset if I slammed them down in a fit of gaming rage.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
The HyperX also gives you your money’s worth in terms of build quality. The headband is extremely durable, and the yolks, which are similar to those found on the G Pro X, are equally as strong. The ear cups’ exterior is entirely plastic, but it’s very strong and of comparable quality to the G Pro X.
However, the wiring is a minor issue that can feel major at the moment. If you don’t constantly untangle the cable, it repeatedly tangles over time. This frequently gets in my way and is annoying to deal with.

Build Quality Verdict
Both headphones are built to high standards, and when comparing the two, it comes down to the details. While both stand out in terms of build quality and are excellent value for their price, the Cloud Alpha S cord tangles over time.
It may not seem like a big deal, but it can be annoying and tedious to deal with. It’s also something I don’t have to worry about with the G Pro X.
Mic Quality
Logitech G Pro X
The G Pro X mic functions as it should. My voice constantly comes through loud and clear, so I can effectively communicate with my teammates. However, just like many other headsets, they have trouble combating background noise, but Logitech thought of a solution.
While I can fiddle with the mic settings as much as I want, I find it easiest to select a “Noisy Background” preset from the community hub. There are numerous options for various audio environments, and they work as intended, as evidenced by the recording.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
The Cloud Alpha S hits all the marks. However, the mic quality doesn’t impress me. The mic is too quiet, and even after turning the volume up all the way with the HyperX NGENUITY drivers, there isn’t much of a difference.
My voice is barely audible against the background noise. Unfortunately, there is no way to combat this like the G Pro X, which means the Cloud Alpha S cannot compete.

Mic Quality Verdict
Even discounting the advanced capabilities of the Logitech G Hub for the G Pro X, the Logitech mic outperforms the Cloud Alpha S. My voice is far more clear, and with the G Hub software factored in, it’s an easy win for the G Pro X.
Connectivity
Logitech G Pro X
With the 2m PC/console cable and secondary mobile cable, the G Pro X is compatible with all devices. This is also a Y splitter to connect to separate audio ports on the PC.
The USB external sound card connects to your PC and activates the Logitech G Hub software. This gives you a lot of control over how you want to adjust your mic and sound, and it’s by far the best headset software I’ve seen.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
Through the detachable 1m audio cable, the Cloud Alpha S is compatible with PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices. Simply connect the audio cable to the audio control mixer to enable the USB audio control mixer’s functionality on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Connectivity Verdict
Both headphones are compatible with all devices, and have good feature sets. The Logitech G Pro X have a USB external soundcard that can be used to activate the Logitech G Hub. The Cloud Alpha S also includes a USB audio control mixer for more functionality.
While one is interface-focused and the other is functionality-focused, both headphones’ connectivity features impress me, and I don’t want to be without either.

Comparing sound quality on PC
Logitech G Pro X
Testing the G Pro X on CS:GO tells me everything I need to know about the sound quality of the headset on PC. It is distinct, directional, and reliable. The G Pro X have excellent sound quality even without the Logitech G Hub. Footsteps, gunshots, and grenade throws are all clearly audible.
My experience elevates to a new level with the 7.1 surround sound and customization available in the Logitech G Hub software. Footsteps are clearer, and the mids and highs are more distinct once I prioritized them with the software.
To put it simply, the Logitech G Hub elevates my sound quality experience on PC.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
The G Pro X have impressive sound quality on PC, but the Cloud Alpha S puts up a good fight. The footsteps, gunshots, and grenades are clear as day. And the mids and highs distinguish themselves from the lows once I set them to be very quiet using the bass adjustment sliders.
Although the audio is good, turning on the 7.1 surround sound with the USB Audio control mixer greatly enhances the experience. You can hear directional audio like footsteps more clearly from a distance, allowing you to better track the enemy’s location.
The Cloud Alpha S doe’s come with the HyperX NGENUITY software, and while it isn’t as advanced as the Logitech G Hub, it still gives you what you need as far as audio customization options.
Comparing sound quality on Console
Logitech G Pro X
The G Pro X doesn’t have 7.1 surround sound on PS4, but they still have reliable sound quality. Playing Call of Duty: Warzone, I can tell if someone is behind me and where shots are coming from.
The lows do occasionally overpower the mids, and the directional audio isn’t as sharp as it is with the 7.1 Surround sound. While I remain confident in their abilities, my experience with the G Pro X on Ps4 is not as impressive as on PC.
HyperX Cloud Alpha S
The Cloud Alpha S have a tactical edge on the G Pro X since they can enable 7.1 surround sound through their USB audio control mixer. This definitely makes the directional audio a much better experience than the G Pro X.
I can also lower the bass with the bass adjustment soldiers, combating the loud lows that are frequent in Call of Duty: Warzone. Safe to say, the Cloud Alpha S have a comparable sound quality on PS4 as they do PC.

Sound Quality Verdict
This is a tough call, but I have to go with the Cloud Alpha S since they perform nearly identically on both platforms. Specifically because of their ability to add 7.1 surround sound and bass adjustments while playing on console.
If you only play PC games, the G Pro X are more impressive because of what they can do with the Logitech G Hub. And If I didn’t play console games, I’d go with the G Pro X. But I want the best of both worlds, which is why I choose the Cloud Alpha S.

Conclusion
The G Pro X and Cloud Alpha S are hands down the two best gaming headphones I have tested. In the end, the Cloud Alpha S take the edge because they perform nearly the same on console as they do on PC. With that, they have much better comfort than the G Pro X.
However, if you only game on PC, the G Pro X is most likely more worth it because of the advanced customization using the Logitech G Hub and a far better microphone.
Both headphones offer great value at their price point, and you can’t go wrong with either. But for my setup, the Cloud Alpha S are the better choice.
