An accidental reveal shows Beats stepping up their game against the AirPods Pro.

Key Highlights:

  • Beats Studio Buds+ were accidentally listed on Amazon along with a May 18 release date and a $169.95 price tag.
  • The leaked earbuds feature a new transparent design option, improved noise cancellation, and longer battery life.
  • Compatible with both Apple and Android devices, the new earbuds offer features like one-touch pairing and Hey Siri support.

An accidental Amazon listing spilled the beans on the newest release from Apple’s Beats – the Studio Buds+ earbuds. They come with improved features and new design changes and are rumored to have a sportier build than the AirPods Pro.

According to the listing, the Studio Buds+ will be available for preorder at $169.95 before its release on May 18.

This makes the Buds+ $40 pricier than the original Studio Buds.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the details from the leaked Amazon listing.

The listing, although already having secured preorders from Beats fans, has since been removed from Amazon.

New Transparent Design and Color Options

Design-wise, the Beats Studio Buds+ showcase a very similar look to the original Studio Buds.

They have the same rounded case and a compact form factor without the stems extending below the ears. However, the newer model appears to have a more low-profile earbud design. Currently, they’re offered in the usual opaque color options of classic Black and Ivory.

In an unexpected departure from the typical Beats aesthetic, the Studio Buds+ also come in a new transparent design. In many ways, they’re reminiscent of the Nothing Ear (2) earbuds.

Enhanced Sound Quality and Noise Cancellation

According to the Amazon product listing, the Beats Studio Buds+ boast “3x larger microphones” for 1.6 times more effective active noise cancellation. With this upgrade, users can expect two times better Transparency Mode, as well.

Additionally, the earbuds are equipped with a “voice-targeting algorithm” designed to filter out noise for clearer calls.

As for sound quality, the new Studio Buds+ come with “custom two-layer transducers” for better bass and less distortion. The addition of three new acoustic vents and Spatial Audio support aim to enhance audio precision and should deliver more immersive listening.

Improved Battery Life and Compatibility

The Studio Buds+ will provide up to 36 hours of playback with the USB-C charging case. This is a welcome improvement from the original Studio Buds’ 24-hour battery life.

The earbuds may have an IPX4 rating that’ll make it possible to wear them while working out. And with four ear tip size options ranging from XS to L, they should be able to accommodate various ear shapes and sizes.

Lastly, the Studio Buds+ will feature enhanced compatibility with Apple and Android devices. And like newer iOS devices, they will offer features like one-touch pairing, automatic switching, Hey Siri assistance, and Find My support.

Early rumblings about a new Beats earbuds model first surfaced after Apple published the iOS 16.4 release candidate in March 2023. The notes revealed added support for features like audio sharing, automatic switching, and “Hey Siri,” which are not found on the original Studio Buds. The new Studio Buds+ were then eventually confirmed by an FCC filing spotted by Twitter user @aaronp613.

Though we don’t know when Apple will officially unveil the product, if the leaked listing is anything to go by, we could see the Buds+ in the market later this month.
