The Final D7000 headphones sound like a dream… if you can afford it.
Final has expanded its flagship lineup with the introduction of the D7000 headphones. These headphones don’t come cheap, but they claim to make up for it with their sound, build, and design.
Building on the success of the D8000 and D8000 Pro Edition models, the D7000 offer a more unique listening experience. They combine the complex high-frequency detail of planar magnetic drivers with the powerful, open bass of dynamic drivers.
Final D7000 Features
The D7000’s performance is highly reliant on Final’s proprietary AFDS planar magnetic driver technology.
This new design tackles a common issue faced by conventional planar drivers – distortion caused by the diaphragm physically touching the magnets at high excursions, which hinders deep bass reproduction.
Final’s AFDS avoids this problem by adding a remarkably low bass extension. All while maintaining the delicate high-frequency response for which planar magnetics are known for.
To complement the AFDS driver, Final has also developed a new open-type earpad design. These breathable earpads promote a natural sense of openness. This works well with the AFDS driver’s low-frequency capabilities for an even better bass performance.
But, Final’s attention to detail doesn’t end there.
The D7000 headphones also have Final’s pinna-aligned diffuser.
The company used various simulations and hearing experiments to minimize the impact of anatomical variations on the perceived sound. So, users can expect a consistent sound quality no matter the listener’s ear shape and size.
Plus, the D7000’s lightweight yet strong housing is precision-machined from aluminum-magnesium alloy at Final’s headquarters in Kawasaki, Japan.
The D8000 were great with classical music’s wide dynamic range. The D8000 Pro Edition, on the other hand, offered improved better resolution for genres with narrower dynamics like pop and rock.
Final’s new D700 headphones aim to strike a balance between the two.
According to Final, the D7000 presents a slightly more intimate sonic perspective compared to its siblings. This results in a smooth, cohesive sound that invites listeners to rediscover familiar music with new nuances.
Basically, the new headphones deliver the signature delicate treble and open bass of the D8000 lineup while placing a particular emphasis on high resolution in the midrange.
