These might be the coolest Beats headphones ever!

The blocky world of Minecraft, with its 300 million copies sold and 172 million active users, is turning 15. To mark this big birthday, the game has teamed up with Beats to release the limited-edition Minecraft x Beats Solo 4 headphones.

And to make sure everyone knows how special these headphones are, Beats and Minecraft revealed these through a 3D-animated brand film. Created by Paris-based agency Golgotha, this takes viewers on a flying tour through a Minecraft world.

The film plays “Wake Up” by Imagine Dragons as it shows Creepers, forests, a fun poolside party, and a busy city. All before revealing the star of the show: the Minecraft x Beats Solo 4 headphones.

Based on the name itself, Beats isn’t exactly releasing a new model for Minecraft. Instead, it’s giving its Solo 4 headphones a Minecraft makeover that would make even the most stoic Creeper crack a smile.

The design? An eye-catching mix of neon green and black, with a special block pattern that screams, “I’ve survived my fair share of Creeper explosions!”

As a bonus for Minecraft fans, each set of headphones comes with a special code. This code unlocks a cool item in the game’s Character Creator, letting players give their avatars virtual headphones that look just like the real ones.

It’s not just about looks, though. eats’ Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Thorne, sees this team-up as a great way to reach Minecraft’s huge player base.

“Beats is always looking for ways to connect with new audiences at the center of innovation and culture. As we continue to engage with the gaming community, it makes sense to partner with Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all-time.” he said, in an interview with ADWEEK.

But enough about aesthetics – let’s talk about function.

The Beats Solo 4 headphones have a lightweight design for comfortable, extended wear, coupled with Beats’ signature tuning.

With up to 50 hours of playtime on a single charge, you’ll be able to jam out longer than it takes to find diamonds in the Nether. And for those old-school moments, there’s always the option to plug in and go wired.

This collaboration is part of Beats’ long history of working with brands, designers, and artists from different fields.

Where to Buy

The limited-edition Minecraft x Beats Solo 4 Headphones will only be available in the US and UK, starting on July 18. Customers can purchase the headphones through the Apple and Target website, and select Apple and EE Stores.

However, New York City fans are in for a treat on launch day.

Apple Fifth Avenue will host an event featuring Minecraft content creator Tinakitten and Apple Music Radio host Travis Mills. Here, attendees can expect an unboxing, Q&A session, photo opportunities, and product signings – all for FREE.

If you can’t make it to NYC, don’t worry. Tinakitten is making a Minecraft-inspired playlist that will be on Apple Music from July 19th. So you’ll still have something fun to look forward to.

Minecraft’s 15th Anniversary: A Multi-Faceted Celebration

The Beats collaboration is just one part of Minecraft’s extensive 15th anniversary festivities.

Other collaborations include Minecraft’s first adult LEGO set and a birthday video starring Jason Momoa and Jack Black.

Aside from these, the celebration includes:

  • In-game parties with free downloadable decorations, including balloons, banners, and a birthday cake.
  • A special 15-Year Anniversary Map with surprises for players to explore.
  • Access to Minecraft Classic, allowing players to experience the game’s 2009 version, bugs and all.
  • Special promotions offering discounts and free items, as well as limited-edition anniversary merchandise.

All this leads up to “Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue,” the game’s first real-world interactive adventure, opening in Dallas, Texas, on September 20.

But that’s not all.

Minecraft’s influence continues to expand across media with a recent game update focused on multiplayer combat enhancements. And, there’s also a star-studded live-action film set for a 2025 release, featuring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Kate McKinnon, and Jennifer Coolidge.
