This little guy might just be the giant killer in the DAP world.

Shanling has officially launched the M1 Plus, a portable digital audio player (DAP) that follows the release of the M5 Ultra earlier this year. The M1 Plus is designed to provide high-quality audio performance in a smaller, more budget-friendly package than its predecessor.

The Shanling M1 Plus is a compact and powerful music player, running on the latest MTouch system with the Ingenic X2000 processor. It has an ESS ES9069Q DAC, which provides dynamic and detailed sound. This DAP can power even full-size headphones thanks to its dual SGM8262 amplifiers that can deliver up to 660 mW at 32 Ohms.

For comparison, models like the Sony NW-A55 offer much lower power at around 35 mW + 35 mW at 16Ω. This makes the M1 Plus a strong competitor in its price range, typically reserved for more expensive models.

It’s very versatile and can adapt to many use cases. That’s because it supports Bi-directional Bluetooth V5.2, allowing versatile wireless connections with LDAC, aptX HD, aptX, and AAC codecs.

It also has a two-way USB connection, 3.5mm Coaxial SPDIF Out, and Wi-Fi connectivity for DLNA and Airplay. And, it supports expandable storage with a MicroSD card slot, so you can carry a huge music library wherever you go.

Measuring just 86 x 61 x 17 mm and weighing 116 grams, the M1 Plus is highly portable. Yes, the touch screen is just 3.2-inch touchscreen. But, Shanling assures that it’s still easy to use despite its compact size.

Other features include:

  • Support for PCM 32 bit / 768 kHz and DSD512
  • A 2100 mAh battery providing up to 12.5 hours of playback
  • Various connectors like 3.5mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced, and USB-C
  • Channel separation of 100 dB and an SNR of 122 dB for balanced output.
