When finger lickin’ good meets festive jingle groove.

KFC Canada is running a fun holiday promotion by transforming its iconic chicken bucket lids into playable vinyls.

The record features four festive classic carols with a spicy KFC twist.

Dubbed Kentucky Fried Carols, it’s as exclusive as they come. Consumers could only win them as part of a giveaway exclusive to Canadian residents.

The promotion introduced bucket toppers that double as fully functional vinyl records.

Each record features four Christmas classics such as, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, 12 Days of Christmas, and Deck the Halls.

The songs are creatively enhanced with sounds reminiscent of KFC’s kitchen, such as sizzling oil and the signature echoes of its 11 herbs and spices.

KFC described the release as a way to “set the holiday mood with Finger Lickin’ Good food and music all at once.”

The bad news?

The records are extremely rare. Only 10 were up for grabs as part of an Instagram contest for Canadians.

How the Vinyl Lids Were Made

The vinyl lids were crafted with artistry and nostalgia in mind.

Each bucket lid started as traditional paper packaging before being treated with a vinyl layer and etched with grooves.

According to the company, they’re playable on any turntable.

Additionally, they come with a custom sleeve, so you don’t have to keep the bucket if you don’t want to.

Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time KFC has delved into music recording. In the 1960s, Colonel Sanders released a few albums that were sold through the restaurant.

One of them was even Christmas-themed.

Vinyl Resurgence and Cultural Influence

KFC’s campaign taps into the continued popularity of vinyl records, which thrive despite data confusion surrounding sales figures.

Reports from organizations like the Vinyl Alliance and RIAA highlight that vinyl sales remain on an upward trend.

That said, KFC Canada’s Kentucky Fried Carols adds a modern, festive spin to this mix.

While the giveaway was limited to Canada, KFC fans in other regions may look forward to similar promotions in the future.

Perhaps for Valentine’s Day?

There’s nothing more romantic than listening to a curated soundtrack while devouring a bucket of crispy strips, if you ask me.
