His friend tells him to “relax” while he’s thinking of “burning the friendship to the ground.”
When one Reddit user agreed to lend a few records to a friend for her party, he didn’t expect to see them nailed to her wall. But that’s exactly what happened.
What Happened to the Records
After eight years of building a carefully curated vinyl collection, full of original pressings and limited editions, the collector lent a few records to his friend for her apartment party. He handed over some albums he didn’t mind losing, thinking they’d just be used as background music.
But when he showed up at her place, he was stunned. On her living room wall were his mint-condition copies of Dark Side of the Moon and Kind of Blue.
“Not even in frames, just straight-up hammered into the drywall,” he wrote in his post.
As a result, the sleeves tore in the process and he claims the “nails punched right through the vinyl.”
When he asked her what she was thinking, she brushed it off and told him to “relax.”
So, he turned to Reddit to ask if he was overreacting for wanting to “burn this friendship to the ground.”
Redditors Offer Sympathy, Sarcasm, and Legal Advice
The post generated hundreds of responses, with many vinyl lovers chiming in.
Several commenters called the friend’s actions a clear violation of trust and ownership.
Others focused more on the emotional betrayal, while some users took a more tongue-in-cheek approach.
Plot Twist: Some Say the Story Doesn’t Add Up
But not everyone bought the story at face value.
Several Redditors pointed out logistical holes, questioning whether the events could’ve even happened as described.
This is Reddit, though, so all stories should be taken with that doubt in mind. Still, the fact that this is possible to happen is something of a collector’s nightmare.
