I got my first taste of proper audiophile goodness in early 2020 with my LG V40 ThinQ and my Sony MDR-V6s. the experience was exhilarating, I listened to music like never before, hearing more than I had ever heard before, even with the same songs.
One day however, my beloved MDR-V6s broke. One might expect this to pose a threat to my hobby, but it only ended up bringing me to a new level. With soldering iron in hand, I brought back my MDR-V6s. More pairs followed after, Soon, I discovered a pair of MDR-7506 at a thrift store in need of the same love.
After that, it wouldn't stop. Whenever I got the chance, I picked up even the most beaten on, disgusting pair of old studio monitors, and tried to give them a new lease on life. refurbishing them and finding them a new home. This served also served as an excellent way to get a little money on the side as a high school student.
While most of my listening uses headphones, but getting to play with SACD and 5.1 surround music is a blast too. I spent years building my Hi-Fi and Home Theater System from used components and thrift store finds.
Now, I am obsessed with getting to play with all sorts of audio hardware, be it new DACs, Amps, headphones, or speakers. I specialize in collecting Sony gear, but my collection also includes equipment from other brands.
