Happy 100th birthday Beyerdynamic!

To mark a huge milestone in audio technology, Beyerdynamic commemorates its 100th anniversary by launching an all-new DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition headphones.

First released in 1985 for $300 (a significant sum at the time), the original DT 770 Pro, standing for ‘Dynamic Telephone’, rapidly became a success story. These headphones were admired for their versatility, especially with the release of options with different impedance levels: 32Ω for mobile devices, 250Ω for high-end amplifiers, and the 80Ω variant for studio use.

“We wanted to commemorate our 100-year milestone by creating headphones that pay homage to our past, and empower studio professionals of the future to work however and wherever their inspiration strikes.” says Beyerdynamic CEO, Andreas Rapp.

The DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition Features

The DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition is a fusion of traditional sound quality and modern design. These maintain the powerful bass and detailed trebles that made the original DT 770 Pro popular.

However, the headphones are upgraded with a dynamic STELLAR.45 driver system with 45 ohms, ensuring studio reference sound across a broad frequency range of 5 Hz to 40 kHz. This system uses a neodymium magnet and copper-plated precision wires, providing high performance with low distortion even at high sound pressures.

“By combining the beloved features of the DT 770 Pro with the latest driver technology of the DT 700 Pro X, whether you’re in a bustling studio or recording at home, the DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition delivers an unparalleled performance.” adds Rapp.

These headphones also come with a single-sided detachable cable with a mini XLR connector. The cable is 3 meters long, providing flexibility and ease of use in various settings.

Additionally, the headphones feature a gold-plated mini stereo jack plug (3.5 mm) with a 1/4″ adapter (6.35 mm), making them compatible with common headphone outputs.

When it comes to comfort, the headphones boast a rugged headband made of spring steel, providing a secure fit and mechanical reliability for everyday use.

The headband is also upgraded with velour ear pads, soft memory foam, and a new fontanel recess to protect potentially pain-sensitive areas on the head. Combined, this promises unparalleled comfort in long listening sessions.

The DT 770 Pro X Limited Edition differ from the DT 770 Pro in sound quality and comfort.

Thanks to the improved dynamic STELLAR.45 driver, these headphones have a wider frequency response. They also have a detachable Mini-XLR connector cable and an integrated fontanelle recess for enhanced comfort, which you can’t find in previous models.

Compared to the DT 770 Pro X, the Limited Edition maintains the DT 770 Pro’s emphasis on bass and treble frequencies, while the DT 770 Pro X has a more linear treble range tuning and a distinct design.
