One of the biggest features of the Fathom earbuds is the six custom-made balanced armature drivers.

These drivers work together to give clear sound through the whole frequency range. There are two high-definition “super tweeters” for detailed highs, two custom mid-range drivers for vocals and instruments, and two custom BA woofers for full, even bass.

But Campfire Audio claims that these are not just about the numbers.

Their Phase Harmony Engineering makes the drivers work well together. It gets rid of phase cancellation and makes the imaging, separation, resolution, and soundstage better. And, it gives a detailed sound with some warmth in the mids, which makes the vocals sound great, resulting in an absorbing musical experience.

Compared to Campfire Audio’s Black Star model, the Fathom have a more neutral and precise sound.

The Black Star, which have both dynamic and balanced armature drivers, have more bass texture and impact, and more color overall. The Fathom, however, have more high-end air, reach higher frequencies, and have better vocal performance.

According to a Campfire Audio representative, the Fathom are close to the Andromeda Gold Ti, with the Fathom being more like the classic Andromeda sound and the Andromeda Gold Ti being more like the Ara model.

Beyond the sound, the Fathom earbuds’ design stands out too.

Their aluminum body is anodized black, and the Rainbow PVD fasteners make a bright contrast against the black shell. This makes them look captivating and understated at the same time, with subtle rainbow effects against the black shell.

Plus, the Fathom earbuds are made from machined aluminum with an angular shape, which doesn’t just make them unique looking but also comfortable to wear.
