These YouTube Music features give other streaming services a run for their money.
YouTube Music keeps getting better with every update. The streaming app dazzled fans with a great end-of-year recap, adding to the reasons why music lovers should give it a go.
If you’ve recently made the switch, though (or if you don’t pay much attention to detail), you might not be aware of the features added in recent months. So, we compiled our favorites for you!
1. Pin Function on Speed Dial

Speed Dial puts your music at your fingertips with a customizable 3Ă—3 grid on the home page. In even better news, you can pin content you like for easy access.
The feature syncs across Android and iOS devices, keeping your favorite music in the same spot.
In other words, you can pin songs you get obsessed with so you don’t have to search for them time after time. Cool!
2. Sound Search on Mobile & Tablets

Finding that song stuck in your head becomes easier with Sound Search.
The feature uses AI technology to match your humming, singing, or background music to original recordings.
Look for the waveform icon next to the microphone in the search bar. The identification process works fast, showing you the cover art, song name, artist, album, and year. You can even save matches directly to your playlists.
3. Downloads on Web

While offline listening was previously only available on mobile devices, Premium subscribers can now download content on web as well.
This long-awaited feature lets you download albums, playlists, and individual songs or videos for offline playback.
The process is straightforward.
Click the Menu button next to any playlist or album in YouTube Music and select Download. You’ll also find a download arrow on album and playlist detail pages.
4. Revamped Collaborative Playlists

Making playlists became more social with YouTube Music’s updated collaborative feature. You can invite friends to add videos to shared playlists, which is perfect for group activities like parties or road trips.
Plus, the streaming app plans to add more features to collaborative playlists soon, including the ability for users to vote for their favorite songs.
5. User Profile Radio

Did you know that you can share your music taste via your very own radio station?
This feature creates a station based on your preferences. Then, other users can listen to it to get a sense of what you like.
You can also discover new music by tuning into other listeners’ radio stations.
6. Timestamp Sharing

Next time you want to share a quote for a podcast with a friend, send them the time stamp directly. That way, they don’t have to scroll until they find the quote for themselves.
When sharing content from YouTube Music, look for the “Start at x:xx” toggle in the top-right corner of the share sheet. Enable it, and you’re good to go.
The feature adds a timestamp to the URL, directing listeners to exact moments in songs, podcasts, or concert recordings. It works across all YouTube platforms – Android, iOS, and web versions.
