One of them even comes with a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor.
Sennheiser has once again made headlines at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 with the introduction of three new headphones: the Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds, the Accentum Plus wireless headphones, and the Momentum Sport earbuds. Each product aims to cater to diverse consumer needs, from everyday listening to fitness tracking.
Momentum True Wireless 4
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 pack over a dozen advancements over the previous Momentum True Wireless 3.
A standout feature is the aptX Lossless, facilitated by the Qualcomm S5 Gen 2 Sound Platform. This codec ensures CD-quality and bit-perfect audio transmission at 16-bit. However, it requires a phone equipped with Snapdragon Sound for full functionality.
Sennheiser also improved the overall wireless performance of the Momentum True Wireless 4 with Qualcomm’s RF Front End technology. This aims to enhance RF sensitivity, signal-to-noise ratio, and signal continuity. These earbuds also have advanced connectivity features, with support on the latest Bluetooth 5.4, Bluetooth LE Audio, LC3, and Auracast.
The battery performance also sees a slight improvement. The True Wireless 4 offer 7.5 hours of playtime and up to 30 hours with the charging case, compared to the 7/28 hours of the True Wireless 3. Additionally, a new battery protection mode optimizes charging cycles, potentially extending the battery’s lifespan.
Despite these enhancements, the Momentum True Wireless 4 notably omits spatial audio, which is common in its competitors’ offerings.
Availability and pricing
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 will be available for pre-order starting February 15 at around $299.99. It’s available in three color options: black copper, metallic silver, and graphite.
Accentum Plus
The Sennheiser Accentum Plus bridge the gap between the company’s budget-friendly Accentum and its flagship Momentum 4 Wireless. Priced under $250, these maintain as similar design as the original Accentum but introduce modern features borrowed from the Momentum 4.
Unlike their predecessor, these have touch controls and wear sensors, which pause music automatically when the headphones are removed. Although not essential, these additions are a step towards a more intuitive user experience.
The Accentum Plus also advance in Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology. These have adaptive ANC that auto-adjusts for wind noise, unlike the regular Accentum model, which requires manual adjustment. The Plus version also offers adjustable sidetone for calls, enhancing clarity and user control.
In terms of audio codecs, the Accentum Plus has stepped up from the Accentum’s aptX HD to aptX Adaptive. This offers a more efficient audio transmission that adapts to changes in wireless signal strength.
They also have a 3.5mm analog input, making them compatible with various audio sources, including in-flight entertainment. And, a USB-C audio option for a lossless connection.
Availability and pricing
The Accentum Plus are scheduled for release on February 20. Priced at $229.99, these will be available in two classic color options: black and white.
Momentum Sport
The Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds are a breakthrough in fitness-oriented audio technology. Equipped with a photoplethysmography (PPG) heart rate sensor and a body temperature sensor, these measure body temperatures with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 degrees Celsius and track heart rates from 30 to 220 bpm.
In addition to health tracking, the Momentum Sport earbuds boast an IP55 rating for sweat and water resistance. Plus, a shock-proof chassis, and clog-resistant tips, ensuring durability in various exercise conditions.
They also feature an acoustic relief channel and a semi-open design. These reduce the occlusion effect, where users feel their ears are plugged and under pressure. And, it dampens the vibration noises usually generated inside earbuds due to movements like footsteps or heavy breathing.
The Momentum Sport also include adjustable Transparency mode, Anti-wind mode, and Adaptive Noise Cancelling mode. These enable users to easily adapt the earbuds to their changing surroundings.
Availability and pricing
The MOMENTUM Sport will be available from April 9th, priced at $329.95. These will come in three colorways: Polar Black, Burned Olive, and Metallic Graphite.
