Okay, time to reinstall Tidal.
A long-time issue that frustrated Tidal users for months has finally been resolved with the latest app update.
The glitch, preventing albums from loading and showing a “Something went wrong. Please try again later” message, had tested user patience and even led some to reconsider their loyalty to the streaming service.
With version 2.102, Tidal seems to have fixed the problem, bringing relief and a wave of positive reactions from its community.
The Problem
FiyasKane, a Redditor, expressed his frustration on the r/Tidal subreddit on February 24, 2024 about the issue.
The post, titled “I’m about to throw my phone at the wall. Every other album I click on does this,” captured the widespread annoyance. This included a screenshot showing an error message that had become too common for Tidal users.
The OP didn’t share much in the original post. But he has expressed the extent of his frustration in the comments.
Unfortunately, FiyasKane’s experience wasn’t unique. Many other users have been posting about the same issue for months.
These users reported various bugs, from playlists stopping to error messages when accessing the “Now Playing” tab. This seems to have affected users across different devices and situations.
“For at least two weeks now I will get partially through my playlist and then the app will lock on one song playing, but it continues to the next song and it stops after that.” shares one user.
“This is happening in my truck. During my walks. At home on bluetooth or airplay. It doesn’t matter. If I had to guess how often I would say at least 75% of the time.”
For some users, the issue had been too much to handle, resulting in their decision to switch platforms.
Despite all the complaints both in forums and the app’s review page, Tidal has never officially released a statement to address the issue.
The Solution
Some users offered temporary fixes like clearing the cache, or logging out and back in were only stopgaps. But, most of the others suggested that the only way to actually fix this is to switch to either an older version before the bug (2.99) or a later one.
Until yesterday, users have been opting to install the latest version using the beta version available in APKMirror. However, Tidal has finally officially announced the release of version 2.102 on February 26, 2024.
As shared by jrlrrz, a Redditor, shared the update’s availability in the subreddit.
This means, to solve the issue, users now just have to update their Tidal app with the latest version.
The community’s response was overwhelmingly positive. While the update notes didn’t mention anything about the existing bug, many users have confirmed the fix’s effectiveness.
“Yeah I’ve had same issue for a couple weeks, I got so mad.
New version 102 is available also for Android, I updated yesterday and it’s finally fixed” says AggressiveOrchid1962.
One user even retracted his negative review on the app’s page in the Play Store in response to this.
Yet, some users have clarified that not all issues have been resolved. For one, the error still appears when viewing the song credits page.
