True ribbon technology just got a serious upgrade.

Aleksandar Radisavljevic, the co-founder of RAAL-requisite, announces the launch of the new subbrand focusing entirely on true-ribbon headphones: RAAL 1995. Along with this entry come two flagship models: Magna and Immanis.

“Over the decades past, all kind of rectangular-diaphragm drivers were called ribbons, but that’s not really what they were…” says Aleksander.

“Magna is the original next-gen ribbon headphone that will showcase the new level of performance, not just in comparison to RAAL-requisite headphones, but compared to all other technologies. A proper TOTL headphone, no ifs no buts, if I may say so. Immanis adds more of everything to that, showing that limits can be pushed even further.”

RAAL 1995’s Magna headphones feature true-ribbon technology within a circumaural, open-back framework.

The Magna use dual ribbon drivers that are finely tuned to improve sound quality by eliminating repetitive errors. This method ensures a cleaner and more precise audio experience.

The core of Magna’s performance is their True-Ribbon technology.

This uses thin, corrugated aluminum ribbons to produce sound with very little distortion and a wider soundstage. It offers a listening experience that feels true to the original recording.

These ribbons have a large surface area of 16.8 cm², can move up to 4 mm back and forth, and reach a maximum sound level of 115 dB. Because of this, the headphones can cover a broad range of sounds and dynamics.

On the technical front, Magna features an impedance of 0.038Ω, which adjusts to 0.27Ω when paired with its specialized cable.

However, this means users need the special Ribbon Current-Drive Interface (RCDI) to make sure the amplifiers will work well. Fortunately, the RCDI, which is in the style of a headphone stand, also comes with the headphones upon purchase.

The design of Magna also combines practical use with elegance.

Made from a mix of glass fiber and aluminum, and finished with an American walnut veneer and a detailed stainless steel grille, these headphones look as good as they sound.

A titanium coating on the bridge also adds to their quality.

For comfort, the headphones include a suede-padded headband and memory foam earpads. These are lined with lamb suede inside and perforated leather outside, making them comfortable for long periods of use.

The Immanis headphones is an upgraded version of the Magna. Compared to Magna’s dual Dual Ribbon system, Immanis boast three.

Immanis’ triple ribbon motor aims to give them an even better ability to produce deep bass, great dynamics, and wide soundstage. This also results in a sound pressure level of 118dB. This is made possible by the motor’s large surface area and the specially designed low impedance of 0.057Ω.

Immanis are also designed to work well with a variety of amplifiers, needing only 2-6W from a headphone amp or 8-25W at 8Ω from a loudspeaker amp. This flexibility, along with the RCDI-32, ensures that Immanis can deliver an unmatched audio experience.

The craftsmanship of Immanis is evident in their build as well. These headphones use a mix of glass fiber, aluminum, and a finishing touch of hard wax on American walnut veneer, highlighted by a striking gold-plated grille.

Comfort is also key with Immanis. The headphones feature a headband cushioned with suede and stitched in a stylish diamond pattern, alongside a gold-plated adjuster that allows for easy size changes.

Their earpads are also thoughtfully made from memory foam and covered with soft lambs leather suede and breathable sheepskin. This ensures you can listen for hours in total comfort.
