These are some of the very few models that actually encourage a burn-in period.
Focal has revealed two new high-end headphones: the open-back Hadenys and the closed-back Azurys. These new models show Focal’s promise to make top-notch sound more accessible while keeping the brand’s signature design and craftsmanship.
Made in their workshops in Saint-Étienne, both the Hadenys and Azurys have Focal’s exclusive 40mm aluminum/magnesium ‘M’-shaped dome speaker drivers.
These are the same drivers the company has used with the popular Focal Bathys headphones. But, they’re said to have been improved to give a more detailed, warm, and lively sound for the new wired models.
Focal Hadenys Features
The Hadenys open-back headphones are a perfect choice for home listening, offering a sound experience that captures every musical nuance.
These headphones’ earthy, brown color brings a timeless and natural style. According to Focal, these are inspired by the Hadean Eon, a.k.a. the period when Earth was first formed 4.6 billion years ago.
“Hadenys embodies a return to roots, poised between power and minerality.” says Focal.
Aside from this vision, Focal’s classic design elements are also easy to see in the Hadenys.
These include honeycomb grilles, real leather, and breathable woven fabric headbands. All this, combined with the lightweight magnesium yoke and memory foam ear cushions make sure the Hadenys remain comfortable for long listening sessions.
The stylish look and open-back design make these headphones a great pick for audiophiles who want the best sound quality at home.
One thing to note though, is that the company says the Hadenys need a “running-in period” for to get the best performance. This break-in process helps make the speakers stable, letting you fully enjoy what the headphones can do.
You can do this by naturally listening for several hours. Or, you can speed it up by playing the headphones at a fairly high volume for at least 24 hours, using songs with a lot of low frequencies.
In short, Focal actually encourages a specific “burn-in period” for the Hadenys.
