It’s a fun (and sometimes hurtful) way, of discovering new music.

Spotify has recently launched a captivating new feature, Song Psychic, designed to merge the mystical with music. This provides users with song-based answers to life’s various questions, much like consulting a digital Magic 8 Ball.

Song Psychic is Spotify’s new feature that blends music with a hint of mysticism to answer a user’s questions. When a user asks a question, this feature will select a random song that will aim to answer it.

In their press release, Spotify describes this feature as a ‘journey of enlightenment’, saying:

“Life’s full of little mysteries, and sometimes the most fun way to tackle them is with a bit of cosmic guidance. Spotify is ready to take you on a journey of enlightenment with Song Psychic, a new, mystical music experience.”

This aims to deepen user interaction with Spotify’s extensive music catalog by providing a unique, interactive experience. It’s also the platform’s new way for users to discover music.

The company clarifies that while Song Psychic might feel like consulting an all-knowing entity, it operates by matching keywords in songs to questions. They claim that the answers are “generated entirely at random”, so it isn’t influenced by user data.

As Spotify puts it, Song Psychic is “in no way actually magical” and is designed purely for entertainment.
