An industry insider spills the beans on the Sony WH-ULT900N.

Sony’s upcoming WH-ULT900N headphones are already making noise, thanks to a leak from industry insider Roland Quandt. As a direct successor to the WH-XB910N, these headphones aim to redefine the mid-range audio market.

The ‘ULT’ stands for the new “Ultimate Power Sound” technology that promises a premium experience at a fraction of the cost of Sony’s high-end models.

With the new “Ultimate Power Sound” technology, the WH-ULT900N are said to offer a better listening experience together with the 40mm drivers with neodymium magnets.

This technology lets users adjust the sound in two stages. This allows them to change the audio output to the listener’s taste, whether they want deep bass or very clear highs.

According to the leak, the “Ultimate Power Sound” technology also widens the frequency range from 5 Hz to 20 kHz. This puts the WH-ULT900N close to Sony’s top WH-1000XM5, which offer bass that beats many competitors.

Plus, they support a clear bass boost for an even deeper, pulsing rhythms.

The Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology also makes the experience even more immersive, giving a space for sound in any location.

The WH-ULT900N are also said to be a dependable partner for long listening sessions. These headphones have a strong 520mAh battery that gives up to 50 hours of playback without ANC, and up to 30 hours with both ANC and Bluetooth on.

Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity improves the user experience with features like multi-pairing, allowing easy switching between audio sources. Also, support for AAC, LDAC, and SBC codecs ensures high-resolution audio. So, every note is heard clearly without any disruptions.

Quandt’s leak also gives the first look into the design of the WH-ULT900N. According to this, the new headphones look like the high-end WH-1000XM4, but with some changes, giving a fresh look that is both known and new.

The external USB-C ports have been replaced with what looks like a speaker grill. And, the Sony logo has been moved, setting the WH-ULT900N apart from their predecessors.

The WH-ULT900N also works with Google Fast Pair for quick connectivity. Voice control through Google Assistant, Siri, or Amazon Alexa makes them easy to use, allowing hands-free operation for many functions.

And, through Sony’s own app, users can explore a lot of sound customization settings to fit their listening habits.

There’s currently no information yet on when the Sony WH-ULT900N will be released exactly. But, it’s likely that we can expect them in the second half of the year and they will cost around $215. They are said to come in black, white, and “Forest Gray” colors.
