For everyone who never gets tired of hearing the same songs every day.
Apple Music introduced its new ‘Heavy Rotation Mix’ on February 28, 2024, a playlist that updates daily to reflect users’ most-played songs. Unlike previous features that are updated weekly, this aims to give a fresh look at what you’re currently enjoying, focusing on delivering a dynamic listening experience simply and directly.
What Is the Heavy Rotation Mix
Apple Music’s ‘Heavy Rotation Mix’ is a new feature that shines a light on the top 25 songs you’ve been playing on repeat. This is like the Replay playlists but on a more real-time basis.
This personalized playlist stands out because it’s updated daily, giving you a fresh lineup of your recent go-tos. This is unlike other playlists such as the Favorites Mix or the New Music Mix, which update weekly.
The Heavy Rotation Mix is all about what you’re really into right now, changing every day to match your current musical mood. It’s a direct line to the tunes that matter most to you lately, offering a listening experience that moves with your musical tastes.
But, instead of solely focusing on the music you listen to every day, it also considers songs that you’ve listened to most in the last month. So, you won’t forget about recent discoveries as well.
This daily update makes it a unique and essential feature for anyone looking to keep their music fresh and closely aligned with their current favorites.
How to Find It
Accessing the ‘Heavy Rotation Mix’ is straightforward.
Users can navigate to the Music app on their device, select the Listen Now (Home tab), and scroll down to the Made for You section. Here, they will find the distinctive orange/yellow Heavy Rotation card.
By tapping on this card, users are immediately taken to their personalized playlist, ready to enjoy their recent favorites.
Other Recent Enhancements to Apple Music
Apple Music has rolled out several updates to make its service even better this year.
Besides the ‘Heavy Rotation Mix’, it now offers two special stations for Valentine’s Day called ‘Love’ and ‘Heartbreak.’ These stations help users find music that fits their mood, whether they’re feeling romantic or a bit sad.
Moreover, with the iOS 17.3 update, Apple Music also introduced collaborative playlists. This means you and your friends can add songs to the same playlist, making it a shared music experience.
Plus, you can now react to songs in these playlists with emojis, making listening more fun and interactive.
But, there’s no sign that Apple Music is done yet. A potentially huge upcoming feature was discovered to be in its A/B test stage that can let you import playlists from another streaming platform to Apple Music.
This feature could let users move their music and playlists from Spotify to Apple Music without much hassle. Since it uses SongShift, a tool known for doing this well, it’s a big deal that Apple might offer it for free.
